Not Broken

Posted by Blaine Tucker on July 19, 2005

Turns out my toe wasn’t broken after all. Very good news.

We leave for Wilderness Trek Sunday. I pray that it will be a spiritual blessing to my teens. I’ve heard so many great things about it, that I’m really excited to see. I’ll let you know. For now, I just have to rush around and get stuff ready. You’d think that I’d learn from doing this every time that I have an event that it is much less stressful to have stuff lined up way in advance. Oh well. It still gets done.

Sorry I haven’t been writing anything meaningful the last couple months. I’ve been mentally and emotionally drained. HOpefully I’ll get back into this with a fresh frame of mind.

In HIM,

Blaine

Hi. I am an idiot.

I broke my toe the other day. Doesn’t hurt real bad, and I can still walk. But, it’s broken. Wouldn’t be such a big deal if I didn’t have a week-long hike planned for a week and a half away. Hopefully, it will have healed enough by then. It should. It’s already feeling better. It would kill me if I had to miss Wilderness Trek.

I go see a doctor for my physical today. I’ll check with him while I’m there.

Any prayers you would offer on my behalf would be GREATLY appreciated.

Blaine

Okay.

So it’s been a while.

I’ve been out of town for a few weeks, between camp and a visit to Phoenix for a week. When I got to Phoenix, I hadn’t seen my wife and boy for nearly two weeks. I was glad to get them back. While there, I also got to see my sister and her boyfriend, and of course, my parents. It was a good visit. Now I’m just gearing up for the rest of the year.

Do not. I repeat. DO NOT go see Bewitched. Kate and I did and we both hated it. It just wasn’t funny. If you’re part of a fan club for the original or something, you might like it. Otherwise, save your money. Go see Batman Begins again. (hahaha- begins again…..)

After my last list, and after Dave did his top ten alien movies, it got me wanting to do a top ten list of my own. Here’s my top ten sci-fi movies of all time (well, at least those that I think of right now).

10. Final Fantasy- deep movie for a cartoon
9. Harry Potter 1-3- You like them, you’re just afraid to admit it. It’s okay. You weren’t cool enough to protect your rep anyway.
8. Terminator 2- If you’re quoting it 12 years later, it’s good. How many times have you heard someone say “All Be Bock” or “Hasta La Vista, Baby”? Gotta love it.
7. Back to the Future- this is another classic. 2 and 3 are an embarassment and the historical reasons people hate sequels. But the original still rocks. Plus, who doesn’t love Huey Lewis? Yes. You do. We already established that thing with your “rep”.
6. TeenWolf- What, it didn’t make your list? Who doesn’t love a basketball playing man-dog. This is a classic. Plus, if Arnold makes the list twice, Michael J Fox does, too.
5. 12 Monkeys- How did you forget about this one?
4. Highlander- 4 sequals and long-running tv show. Of course, none of them match the original, but still indicators of greatness.
3. Matrix- not the trilogy, just the first movie. You know. The good one.
2. Terminator- Just. Plain. Cool.
1. The Empire Strikes Back- This is the placeholder for all Star Wars movies, cause it’s the best. Hands down.

Okay. You have been educated.
